Holiday time is not only for love, laughter, and giving, but also for receiving. And in this case, it was me who was receiving laughter, hour after hour, as I designed this fake poster for a friend as a holiday gift.
It all started when he mentioned that if he had had a rock band in the 1980’s, it would have been called “Leftover Pizza.” From there, my gears started turning.
I found a stock photo of a fake 80’s band and isolated them from their background using Photoshop. I created different background elements using different brushes and effects, giving it the real “80’s” feel. Next, I took a picture of my friend from a fishing trip and isolated his face. I then carefully added his face onto the lead signer’s face, laughing hysterically the entire time.
For the final touches, I made up some silly text for when and where the “show” would have taken place, adding some essential 80’s flair. The final product had us both rolling with giggles upon its unveiling:
